  • Employers go back to school!

    Over 20 volunteer employers from local and national business and the community spent last Friday 13th July back at school.  They worked with 260 students from Year 10 at Darrick Wood School helping them to be better prepared for the world of work.  The volunteers worked with a group of 6/7 young people and took them through a number of activities to help them better understand the range of opportunities open to them when they finish their studies.  It was a very hot day but that didn’t deter the students from really engaging and chatting with the employers to find o...

    Jobs Fair brings young people and employers together

    Bromley’s Youth Employment Scheme (YES) delivered by Bromley Education Business Partnership held their third annual Jobs Fair at the Bromley Central Library last Friday 6th July.  90 young people from the local area who are currently looking for work dropped in during the morning to find out more about the opportunities available. Over 25 local and national employer organisations were represented at the event covering a range of work sectors. These included painting & decorating with Bell Group, Cleverbox (a local web design company), Greggs, Kings College Hospital and MyTime Active.     Stars from the community

    The London Borough of Bromley holds an annual celebration event called Bromley Stars (sponsored by LBB contractors).  This event celebrates the fantastic work carried out in Bromley.  The 90 strong team of Bromley Mentoring Initiative mentors were nominated under the category of volunteers who make a huge contribution to Bromley services and we are delighted to report that they won!  This is fantastic publicity for the work they do but also a great way for LBB Senior Management to acknowledge the commitment and dedication they show to the young people they support.  Their contribution in hours equates to over 3,400 over an academic year and in excess of £25,000 if we paid them!
