    Bromley Mentoring Initiative Thank You Reception

    We had an enjoyable evening on Friday 12th July at the Old Palace, Civic Centre where we hosted a reception to thank our mentors for all the amazing work they have been doing over the last academic year.  We received 130 referrals for mentors and have supported 173 young people during the academic year.  With the pressure on social care and finances, the support mentors are giving our young people is an important early intervention.&...

  • Jobs/Careers Event for young people

    35 local and national employers from a range of employment sectors promoted their current vacancies for young people at the Jobs/Careers Fair organised by Bromley EBP in partnership with the DWP.  The event took place on Friday 12th July in the Central Library, Bromley with over 120 young people (16-24) dropping in to meet the employers during the morning.  The Mayor, Cllr Nicholas Bennett officially opened the event at 10.00am and then spent a lot of time talking with the employers and training providers who were there.  This is the fourth annual Jobs Fair organised by B...

  • Without our employers and community volunteers – we are nothing!

    This academic year has been a busy one for all our employers and community volunteers who have helped us support a range of young people to help develop their employability skills.  Many have given up their time to help sixth form students who are not going onto Higher Education at our Next Steps events held at the Central Library throughout the year. They have also provided their knowledge and experience to help us support younger students in Years 10 and 11 (aged 14-16) at Langley Park Boys, Coopers and Darrick Wood Schools.  The aim of these events is to help the young people better understand what opportunities are open to them after Year 11 including sixth form, college and apprenticeships.   • Employers go back to school!

    A range of local employer representatives went back to school on Tuesday 2nd July!  They offered to share their knowledge and experience of the world of work with Year 10 students (aged 14/15) at Coopers School in Chislehurst. The overall aim of the day was to look at the skills employers value in today’s workplace and provide the young people with information on changes around the recruitment and selection process.  The business ambassadors worked with a group of students and helped them through a basic psychometric test.  This helped them identify their particular skills and how these would be useful in a team working situation.  One of the students said ‘It was interesting to learn about interviews and practical skills to use.  Our business person made things interesting and I liked the personality quiz’ Our thanks go to Bell Group...

    Jobs/Careers Event for Young  People

    We are delighted that the Mayor of Bromley, Cllr Nicholas Bennett, will be opening this year’s Jobs Fair for young people at the Central Library, Bromley on Friday 12th July.  The event is organised jointly between DWP and Bromley EBP. Over 30 employers from a range of sectors including The Army, Clarion Housing Group, DWP, London Borough of Bromley, Lewisham & Greenwich Hospital Trust, Mytime Active, Santander and Transport for London will be at the event with their ‘live’ vacancies for young people.  A number of training and apprenticeship organisations will also be there promoting their support including Barnados, JTL, London South East Colleges and Springboard.
