Bromley Mentoring Initiative Thank You Reception

We had an enjoyable evening on Friday 12th July at the Old Palace, Civic Centre where we hosted a reception to thank our mentors for all the amazing work they have been doing over the last academic year.  We received 130 referrals for mentors and have supported 173 young people during the academic year.  With the pressure on social care and finances, the support mentors are giving our young people is an important early intervention.

Cllr Kate Lymer, Portfolio Holder for Public Protection and Enforcement and Chair of the Bromley Mentoring Initiative Steering Committee gave a short speech thanking all the mentors for their valuable contribution to the young people of Bromley.

Betty McDonald, Head of Service, Youth Support & Youth Offending Services (YOS) said “The event was very well attended and it was really nice to meet these volunteers, many of whom have been with Bromley for several years as well as some of our newer volunteers.  I was touched by 3 people I met who attended with either their mother or wife and were interested to know more about volunteering and whether they too could offer their services”.

We are actively recruiting new mentors so if you are interested in becoming a mentor, please contact Jane Belding on 020 8461 6240 for an informal chat.
