Young People

If you are a young person looking for work experience who attends a Bromley secondary school or college, then please contact the Work Experience Co-ordinator at your school or college for advice about how to find a suitable placement.

The Council has a particular responsibility to promote the welfare of children in the London Borough of Bromley's care and priority for work experience placements within the Borough will be given to them.

Work Experience can give young people valuable life skills and boost their confidence, as well as giving a taste of the world of work.  See our 'Work Experience - Students' leaflet in the 'Downloads' section.

Bromley Council runs a work experience scheme offering placements each year in a variety of departments across the Council. Placements are available to young people in Years 10, 11 and 12 who are looking for work experience as part of an organised school scheme. Priority for placements is given to Bromley Children Looked After and young people who live in Bromley and/or attend a Bromley school. Placements are for 1 or 2 weeks duration in term time only.

Placements are allocated on a first come first served basis according to availability with the deadline for applications closing on 31st March 2022.  We are really hoping that the LBB work experience programme can go ahead for the academic year 2021/22 following the lifting of most Covid-19 restrictions on 19th July 2021 and the gradual return to the workplace as set out by the LBB Chief Executive.

If you are in Year 10 or above and attend a Bromley secondary school or live in the Borough, you can apply for a work experience placement with the Council by completing the application form which can be found in the 'Downloads' section.  Please complete and email to Karen Lubbock at karen.lubbock@bromley.gov.uk as soon as possible and by 31st March 2022.
