Young People

If you are a young person looking for work experience who attends a Bromley secondary school or college, then please contact the Work Experience Co-ordinator at your school or college for advice about how to find a suitable placement.

The Council has a particular responsibility to promote the welfare of children in the London Borough of Bromley's care and priority for work experience placements within the Borough will be given to them.

Work Experience can give young people valuable life skills and boost their confidence, as well as giving a taste of the world of work.  See our 'Work Experience - Students' leaflet in the 'Downloads' section.

Bromley Council runs a work experience scheme offering placements each year in a variety of departments across the Council. Placements are available to young people in Year 10 and above who are looking for work experience as part of an organised school scheme. Priority for placements is given to Bromley Children Looked After and young people who live in Bromley and/or attend a Bromley school. Placements are for 1 or 2 weeks duration in term time only.

Placements are allocated on a first come first served basis according to availability.  Unfortunately, the launch of the LBB 2020/21 work experience programme has been delayed owing to the current situation with regards to Covid-19.  Once Government restrictions have been lifted and safe working pratices implemented, we will resume the programme.  Please keep an eye on this page for further updates.
