    In November, a group of Year 11 students from Bromley Beacon Academy completed a week’s work experience with a range of local employers.  The placements were sourced by Bromley EBP and matched to individual student requirements.   For some of the young people, this was their first taste of the working world and there were a number of real successes to celebrate.     Julie McCarthy, Community Banking Adviser from Nat West Bank, Orpington is keen to work in partnership with Bromley EBP to help young people locally.  Her remit is to reach out to the local community and provide information, advice and guidance on how to better protect personal finances particularly with regard to on-line banking.  Nat West are keen to get the message out to young people and the elderly to help them to avoid being victims of frauds and scams and to be more safe and secure on-line.   • A Beacon of Success

    Students from Bromley Beacon Academy have just returned from a week’s work experience with a range of local employers.  There were some real successes to celebrate – Georgio was praised for his computer troubleshooting skills, he arrived early each day and was immaculately turned out!  Charlie’s work ethnic really impressed his employers as he worked hard and was always keen to help.  Billy’s supervisor declared that he was one of the best work experience students they’d ever had. Declan and Danny brushed up on their technical skills by undertaking placements in local garages.   • Employers help young people be work ready

    A range of employers representing the construction industry including Armour Group, Bell Group and Conway worked alongside other organisations to provide valuable employability advice to young people from Bromley.  Students from LSEC and Chislehurst School for Girls took their Next Steps into the world of employment by attending an event on Friday 10th November supported by local and national employers from a range of sectors. This was the first in a series of events funded through the YES project, to help young people who are not intending to go onto HE to understand more about what employers expect of them and how to access the job market when they finish their studies.     As our population increases, the UK is demanding more from its rail infrastructure than ever before. It is estimated that we make 2.5 billion rail journeys every year, which is set to rise to over 3 billion by 2020. The current network is beyond capacity and increasing demand will see growth in electrification, high-speed rail and the introduction of digital railway, making for a better connected nation.
