We are Virtually there……

Although since March due to the current restrictions we have been unable to organise and offer our face to face employability sessions, we haven’t given up our aim to help prepare young people for the world of work.  Following consultation with schools, it was clear that the need for input around careers, opportunities available and how to access them, particularly during these challenging times, was badly needed.

Many of our local and national employer partners were keen to help where they could until we can get back to delivering events.  This all coincided with the roll out of Microsoft Teams and we have been working hard to explore how we could facilitate virtual sessions.  We decided to run sector-focused events starting with financial services as we have noticed a growth in this type of apprenticeship and job opportunity becoming available for young people both locally and in London.

RSM (UK), a national financial services and accountancy employer with a base in Bromley, are very keen to work with us as they have a school leaver and graduate recruitment programme which they would like to promote.  We are also talking to Ebony from Apprenticeship Support and Knowledge (ASK) team who are keen to reach out to young people to promote apprenticeship opportunities during this time.

We now have an outline for our workshops, continue to practice using Teams and are getting more confident and are hoping to be able to run a pilot session before Christmas.  We then hope to follow up with other sector-focused sessions on Health & Social Care, Business Admin and IT with employer support.
