Affinity Sutton and Bromley EBP Say YES to Youth Employment

Bromley EBP has been working closely with Affinity Sutton, the national housing association, on our initiative to help young people into contracted employment, the Youth Employment Scheme.

A young man referred himself to the scheme as he was having trouble finding a job. With little work experience and a sparse CV, he received a lot of help from the team to brush up his CV and interview skills. After this, we referred him to a project run by Affinity Sutton called Ready 2 Go, a 3 week programme which helps people improve their employability skills.

Ready 2 Go was perfect for this young person as it enabled him to gain accredited employability and health and safety training, as well as a one week work experience placement. As he had an interest in sport, he was placed with MyTime Active, a partner of Affinity Sutton. He impressed his employer so much that they offered him an apprenticeship, which he started this month.

This is a great example of how Bromley EBP’s work in linking young people and business can achieve great outcomes. Following this success, two more young people referred to Ready 2 Go are currently interviewing for jobs in their desired sectors – Bromley EBP wishes them good luck!
