Bromley EBP have a range of activities to support children and young people in Bromley, in a primary or secondary school or College or other setting. We are always looking for people from different backgrounds and of all ages to help and act as role models. Full training and support are provided and volunteers will be expected to undergo the CRB process allowing them to work with young people.
Mentors
Mentors are adults from business or the local community who may be working, retired or a mature student. They develop a relationship with a young person spending time talking to them with the aim of motivating and encouraging. Sessions are usually on a fortnightly basis. In addition to pupils in schools, there are a number of other programmes including young carers, and young people leaving care.
Right to Read
Our Right to Read volunteers are linked with a pupil at a Bromley school. They visit the school on a weekly basis to listen to the child read and develop an on-going relationship to encourage reading for fun and increase pupil confidence. Read our case study for more information ...
Number Partners
Our Number Partner volunteers are linked with two or three pupils at a Bromley school. They visit the school on a weekly basis to play specifically designed games aimed at increasing pupil confidence in mental calculations as well as promoting maths as fun. Modern Foreign Language Partners
We assist children in primary schools by offering them MFL partnerships with supportive adults from the local community. The focus of MFL is to make foreign languages ‘fun’ and build confidence and give children an in depth knowledge of cultural understanding by playing games and activities in the chosen language.
Business Ambassadors
Business Ambassadors are from the local community and may be people working full or part-time or retired from industry. They attend events, usually in school for students (aged 5-19), aimed at raising awareness of what employer’s are looking for and preparing them for the world of work. Some use the opportunity to fulfill their company's corporate social responsibility. Click here to see some of our key employers.
