  • Employers support students with their Next Steps

    During the academic year 2018/19, Bromley EBP will continue to deliver a series of employability events for young people in partnership with our local and national employers.  Each event will be for students from local Bromley sixth forms, who have indicated they do not intend to go onto university when they finish their studies. The aim of each event is to expose young people to a range of employers who will be able to help them improve their employability skills and their transition to the workplace when they finish school next summer.   • Educational Visits Coordinator Training

    Bromley EBP provides the Educational Visits Service package for schools and educational establishments.  The service provides support, training and guidance for educational visits and access to EVOLVE which is an on-line system for the planning and management of sports fixtures and school trips. We recently held two training sessions for new educational visits coordinators and as a refresher for those already trained which were delivered by our external Outdoor Learning consultant, Clive Atkins.  The feedback from the 26 delegates was overwhelmingly positive and will help them ensure that this type of valuable activity to help young people’s development will continue to take place.     The health and social care sector is a major employer, with four million people working in the industry across the UK, including a high proportion of females and part-time workers. The childcare industry is facing a recruitment crisis with not enough child carers to fill the jobs. This, and the replacement demand of those retiring, combined with the sector’s social and economic importance, means there are great employment opportunities for young people in the sector.     Work Experience Visit Service

    2018 has been another very busy and successful year for the work experience team. In addition to supporting the 15 Bromley and Bexley schools that signed up to our Work Experience Support Package, the team processed over 4,000 database checks and carried out over 300 pre-placement visits adding to our database of over 15,000 employers. It’s always encouraging to hear that the support we provide is valued and appreciated with one school emailing “Just a quick note to thank you for all your invaluable help and support over the last year, as always so efficient.  You provide a wonderful service and it is very much appreciated”.
