Speak Up, Speak Out

Bromley EBP has for many years been involved in supporting the Bromley Regional Finals for the Speak Up, Speak Out challenge.  Students from Years 9 and 10 take part in training delivered by Speakers Trust to help them become better communicators. This improves education and employment prospects as well as the desire to use the power of their voice to bring positive change. Through workshops delivered in the school the young people unlock potential and build their confidence.  Schools are then encouraged to hold an Assembly Final to decide on the speaker(s) to go forward for the local regional final.

Bromley’s regional final for Year 10 was held on 20th March at Darrick Wood School.  Students from all Bromley secondary schools were represented and each gave a 3 minute presentation to an audience of over 150 people including the judges.  It was good to see Jude Neanor from Darrick Wood take first place on home soil!  He will now go to the London Final to be held at the Cambridge Theatre in July.

Bromley Schools have a great reputation for winning the Grand Final and Ajaye McDonald (Bishop Justus) last year’s finalist did a great job as the MC at the event.
